The Years 1886–1906
An organized water supply and sewage system is established in Słupsk, marking the birth of the municipal waterworks. From its very inception, the company plays a pivotal role in ensuring residents have access to clean water and sanitary safety.
1992
The company “Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. is established – a municipal utility 100% owned at the time by the City of Słupsk. This marks the beginning of a new chapter of professionalization and investment in infrastructure development.
From 1995 onwards
The company executes a series of modernization and pro-ecological projects, including the expansion and upgrade of the wastewater treatment plant. They implement innovative technological solutions, earning their first awards and industry recognition.
The Years 2003–2004
The largest sewage sludge composting plant in Poland is constructed, and a compost product under the trade name BIOTOP is launched on the market, having been officially added to the list of approved organic fertilizers.
The Years 2004–2011
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. executes the region’s first and largest EU-funded project, co-financed by the Cohesion Fund, titled: “Water and Wastewater Management Program in the Słupsk Region.”
2005
The opening of the Environmental Education Center at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Sportowa Street – a dedicated space for community meetings, workshops for children and youth, and the promotion of sustainable development.
2012

The Years 2014–2016
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. executes its second EU project co-financed by the Cohesion Fund, titled: “Sludge Management at the Treatment Plant along with the Modernization of the Sewage Network in the Słupsk Agglomeration.”
2017
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. signs an agreement with its partners to establish the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster (SKB) and becomes its coordinator. The project involves five municipalities, key technology partners (including ENGIE and Baltic Wind), as well as development and scientific institutions.
From 2018 to 2023
The company executes its first energy investments within the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster (SKB) along with further EU-funded projects: “Utilization of Waste Heat from Biogas Cogeneration in the District Heating System of the City of Słupsk,” “Protection of the Baltic Sea from Untreated Wastewater Discharges During Urban Floods,” and “Circular Economy at the Wastewater Treatment Plant along with the Expansion of the Water and Sewerage Network in the Słupsk Agglomeration.”
2019
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. purchases its first “zero-emission” electric vehicles, co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw.
2020
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. becomes the initiator of the Słupsk Bioenergy Island concept – an innovative project for local energy independence based on renewable energy sources and the circular economy model (CE).
The Years 2023–2024
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. is recognized as one of the industry leaders in Poland – earning the title of Innovation Leader and achieving high positions in the Water City Index ranking. The company increasingly emphasizes its commitment to the energy transition.
From 2024 onwards
The formal project “Development of SKB Energy Competences,” co-financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, is launched. The objective is to lay the groundwork for the long-term development of the Cluster, with the Słupsk Bioenergy Island serving as its core foundation.
The Years 2025–2026
“Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. executes another energy project under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which also includes developing a brand strategy as the coordinator of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster (SKB) – a transparent vision of actions, values, and communication methods to even more effectively build a collaborative network and engage the community. The slogan “A drop that changes the world” becomes the symbol of their approach: working locally, but with courage and ambition.
