Co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management under the programme: “Co-financing of domestic wastewater treatment plants and connecting buildings to the collective sewerage system”.
Project objectives:
- Improvement of the status of surface water and groundwater in Kczewo;
- Compliance with the requirements of Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban waste water treatment.
Project scope:
- The wastewater management project will be implemented in Kczewo, located in the Kobylnica municipality, Pomeranian Voivodeship. Most of the buildings located there are multi-family residential buildings, interspersed with single-family housing.
- Domestic wastewater is generated in the village. Currently, it is discharged through a local, collective sewerage system (99% of buildings in Kczewo) into a concrete holding tank (cesspool), from where it is periodically transported by vacuum trucks to a discharge point at the wastewater treatment plant in Słupsk. An average of approx. 10–12 m³ of wastewater is discharged into the collective sewerage system per day. The current sewerage system along with the holding tank for the village is in a very poor technical condition and requires reconstruction.
- The project involves the construction of a local biological wastewater treatment plant along with a collective sewerage system and connections.
Detailed scope of the Project (facilities, activities, works, deliveries, purchases):
- Construction of a biological wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 160 PE (Population Equivalent) along with supporting infrastructure, including the inflow and outflow channel with a discharge point into a ditch;
- Construction of a wastewater sewerage network with a length of 442 m;
- Construction of 20 building sewerage connections with a total length of 307 m.
As part of the above-mentioned activities, eligible costs include design documentation for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant and the decommissioning of the existing holding tank. The design documentation for the construction of the sanitary sewerage system for Kczewo was prepared by „Wodociągi Słupsk” Sp. z o.o. [Ltd.].
The recipient of the wastewater from the new treatment plant will be a drainage ditch connected to the Bzowa River. The pollution indicator of the treated wastewater will meet the requirements corresponding to the 2,000–9,999 PE range of Annex No. 1 to the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment on conditions to be met when discharging wastewater into waters or into the ground and on substances particularly harmful to the aquatic environment.
Sewage sludge generated at the treatment plant in Kczewo will be regularly removed and transported to the treatment plant in Słupsk, where it will undergo further technological processes in digestion tanks, followed by composting on the site of the treatment plant.
All residential buildings along with the village community centre will be connected within the constructed sewerage network serving the catchment area of Kczewo. In total, 160 residents will be connected to the sewerage system.
Implementation period: February – December 2014
