(09.06.2026)
Słupskie Wodociągi (Słupsk Water Supply) hosted representatives from the Municipal Water and Sewage Company (MPWiK S.A.) in Wrocław. The primary focus of the study visit was the exchange of best practices in energy transition and building local energy security.
The meeting with the Lower Silesian company, recognized as one of the leaders in the water and sanitation sector in Poland and Europe, provided a platform for valuable discussion. It was an excellent opportunity for both parties to draw on each other’s experiences. Słupskie Wodociągi gained valuable inspiration in areas such as modern management, operational procedures, and the implementation of advanced development projects, where MPWiK Wrocław sets the highest standards.
During the visit, technological issues were discussed in detail, with the “Słupsk Bioenergy Island” project serving as the foundation for the talks. This initiative is carried out by Słupskie Wodociągi as the leader of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster (SKB). The guests had the opportunity to visit the Słupsk wastewater treatment plant, which is being developed as a self-sufficient energy hub, and to discuss the Integrated Energy Resource Management System.
The meeting agenda also included topics such as biogas utilization, the construction of photovoltaic systems, energy storage, and heat recovery. Another important aspect of exchanging mutual practices involved cybersecurity, the implementation of the new Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, and the development of innovation.
The study visit also provided an opportunity to meet with Marta Makuch, Deputy Mayor of Słupsk, and Agnieszka Jeziorska, President of Engie EC Słupsk.
The discussions confirmed that close cooperation between local government, water supply utilities, and district heating companies within the SKB cluster is a proven formula for cheaper and clean energy for the region.
