(18.06.2026)
In June this year, the Sieciwod.pl 2026 Forum took place in Uniejów – an event gathering representatives of water and sewerage companies, experts, and industry practitioners from Poland.
Among the speakers was Andrzej Mielczarek, Head of the Investment Department at Słupskie Wodociągi, who delivered a presentation on the energy independence of a water utility company and the Company’s experiences in implementing the project funded by the National Recovery Plan (KPO) entitled “Słupsk Bioenergy Island”.
During the presentation, activities aimed at increasing energy self-sufficiency and the efficient use of energy derived from renewable energy sources were presented. The achieved results were also discussed, thanks to which the Company reached a level of 140% energy neutrality, developing solutions that support energy security and the operational stability of municipal services.
The presentation also emphasized that modern municipal economy can play an increasingly significant role in building urban resilience to crisis situations. The ongoing investments create the possibility of supporting the power supply of selected facilities and systems vital for city operations in the event of energy supply disruptions.
The Sieciwod.pl Forum is a highly regarded platform for exchanging knowledge and experience among management staff and professionals in the water and sewerage industry. The program of this year’s edition included topics related to the security of water and sewerage facilities, the use of artificial intelligence in network operations, business continuity, sewage system monitoring, and water loss reduction.
Participation in the event was also an opportunity to exchange knowledge regarding the challenges and development directions of the modern municipal economy.
