Słupsk Focuses on Local Energy and Cooperation – A Two-Day Event Dedicated to the Region’s Energy Future
(27.11.2025)
On November 24–25 this year, Słupsk became the center of debates on the energy future of the region. Representatives of the RES sector, members of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster (SBC), officials from the Ministry of Climate and Environment, local authorities, entrepreneurs, and industry experts gathered at the headquarters of “Wodociągi Słupsk” and at the Słupsk Technology Incubator.
The events provided an opportunity to present ongoing energy investments at the Słupsk Wastewater Treatment Plant, attend a press conference held by the Mayor of Słupsk, and participate in a strategic workshop on community energy. The culminating point was a conference entitled “Local Energy. Many Opportunities!”, dedicated to modern solutions supporting the energy transition of the city and the region. This theme attracted nearly 250 participants, demonstrating the growing interest in local energy and cooperation.
The event was organized by “Wodociągi Słupsk”, the leader of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster, in cooperation with the SBC Cluster partners: the City of Słupsk, ENGIE EC Słupsk, PGK Słupsk, and Pomorska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego S.A. The meetings were held as part of the project “SBI Słupsk Bioenergy Island – Development of Energy Competencies of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster (SBC)”, financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) under Investment B2.2.2/G1.1.2 – RES installations implemented by energy communities, Activity B.1: Demonstration investment projects implemented by energy communities, supporting local energy transition.
Strategic Workshops – New Ideas and Cooperation
During the strategic workshop, the importance of energy communities in building a local energy mix was discussed. Participants emphasized the necessity of partner-based cooperation between local governments, operators, and local institutions to create new local energy sources.
“Local Energy. Many Opportunities!” Conference
The main theme of the Conference, which was opened by the Mayor of Słupsk, Krystyna Danilecka-Wojewódzka, focused on practical solutions and challenges related to the energy transition of Słupsk and the region.
In their presentations, the invited experts highlighted:
- The potential of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster’s activities;
- The role of the Słupsk Bioenergy Island project as a model system for local energy production, storage, and management;
- The necessity of investing in innovation, including the utilization of waste heat, energy from wastewater, the circular economy, and zero-emission transport;
- The need to establish a stable legal framework that enables local energy balancing by energy communities.
The debates included industry experts, ministry representatives, and local government officials from the City of Słupsk, Ustka, Słupsk County, and the municipalities belonging to the Cluster (Kobylnica Municipality, Redzikowo Municipality, Ustka Municipality). The discussions emphasized the need to build a stable and secure energy system that guarantees competitive energy prices and supports the region’s economic development. Marcin Jaczewski from the Ministry of Climate and Environment highlighted the strategic role of energy communities as a foundation for the Polish energy transition, as well as the significance of the pilot Słupsk Bioenergy Island project, which could be replicated by other local governments across the country in the future.
Conference participants also had the opportunity to explore the offerings of companies collaborating with the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster. Innovative solutions in modern RES installations, energy recovery, and energy storage were presented by Apator, MTM Ekotechnika, BPR ASE GROUP Sp. z o.o., Enerko Energy Sp. z o.o., Gazuno, and MAAT4 Sp. z o.o.
The two-day events confirmed that Słupsk is consistently building its position as a city that focuses on cooperation, modern technologies, and the development of local energy sources. Thanks to the activities of the Słupsk Bioenergy Cluster, the region is strengthening its path toward energy independence, and the slogan “Local Energy – Many Opportunities” is becoming a real development direction. Let’s do something big locally, together creating energy for a secure tomorrow!
