Information on the Company’s investments completed in 2020 and planned for implementation in 2021.
In 2020, despite a challenging period marked by the prevailing nationwide epidemic situation caused by Covid-19, the Company continued its investment and modernization process aimed at eliminating identified system deficiencies and expanding the network for new service recipients. The initiatives undertaken by the Company during this period primarily involve the execution of investments in:
- the expansion and reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant,
- the construction and reconstruction of the sanitary sewerage network,
- the construction and reconstruction of water supply networks.
In 2020, the following investment tasks, among others, were completed:
within the City of Słupsk:
- As part of the final phase of the Project entitled: “Circular economy in the wastewater treatment plant along with the expansion of the water and sewage network in the Słupsk agglomeration” under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme (POIiŚ) 2014-2020:
- a/ Replacement of the water supply network in Piłsudskiego and Zygmunta Augusta Streets in Słupsk, with a length of approx. 1.2 km,
- b/ Construction of an installation for nitrogen removal from reject water using the deammonification process.
- Furthermore, investments crucial for the development of the city of Słupsk were carried out, including, among others:
- a/ Construction of DN150 and DN200 process water pipelines from the Westerplatte water intake in Ks. Brzóski – Racławickiej – Sułkowskiego Streets;
- b/ Construction of a water supply network in Szarych Szeregów Street;
- c/ Construction of a water supply network in Chełmońskiego Street;
- d/ Construction of a sewerage network in Legionów Polskich and Ridla Streets;
- e/ Construction of pressure boosting stations in Kaszubska/Drzymały and Legionów Polskich Streets.
- As part of capital purchases, a wheel loader with an operating weight exceeding 16 tonnes and an electric vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes were acquired.
within the Municipality of Kobylnica:
- Construction of a water supply network in Leśna Street in Bolesławice;
- Construction of a water supply and sewerage network including connection of customers in the locality of Płaszewo;
- A new well borehole for the drinking water intake in Płaszewo and Kczewo.
In 2021, it is planned to continue the initiated investments and launch tasks, among others, under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme (POIiŚ) project:
1/ Completion of the dry percolating digestion installation at the wastewater treatment plant – planned for the first half of 2021;
2/ Modernization of the sludge dewatering unit through the purchase and installation of a high-efficiency dewatering centrifuge at the wastewater treatment plant – completion of the task has been postponed to the first half of 2021;
3/ Improving the efficiency and reliability of technological processes for wastewater sludge treatment through the replacement of blowers and changing the control system of aeration processes in Activated Sludge Chambers – completion of the task is planned for the first quarter of 2022;
IV. Other investments planned for implementation/continued in 2021:
a/ within the City of Słupsk:
- Construction of a heating network with a power cable from the wastewater treatment plant to the “Trzy Fale” Water Park,
- Construction of a pressure boosting station and a water supply network for the Local Spatial Development Plan (MPZP) “Dzielnica Mieszkaniowa Zachód” and part of the Local Spatial Development Plan (MPZP) “Zaborowskiej I”,
- Construction of a cable line from the wastewater treatment plant to the Company’s headquarters at 1 E. Orzeszkowej Street,
- Completion of structures as well as metering and monitoring installations for separate water supply zones of the city,
- Implementation of a UV system for treated water disinfection at the Water Treatment Station at Bohaterów Westerplatte Street,
- Construction of a pressure boosting station in Hubalczyków Street.
Furthermore, the implementation of the international partnership project entitled “Protecting the Baltic Sea from untreated wastewater spills during flood events in urban areas (NOAH)” is being continued. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020, Priority 2: Natural resources managed efficiently, Objective: 2.1. Clear waters. Its implementation has been extended until December 31, 2021.
b/ within the Municipality of Kobylnica:
- Execution of a discharge sewerage network including property connections in the locality of Bzowo – Stage II.
In conclusion, despite the ongoing pandemic and the related difficulties in executing certain investments, the Company implemented its planned investment tasks in 2020. These arose from the necessity to expand or reconstruct the existing water and sewage infrastructure in order to ensure the continuity of water supply and wastewater discharge, as well as to optimize the costs of providing our services.
