On March 22, 2022, we will celebrate another “World Water Day”. This day was established on the initiative of the UN General Assembly. The idea behind “World Water Day” is to spread awareness about proper water management and climate change affecting water scarcity. Natural resources are gradually depleting, and water availability is becoming increasingly limited. Therefore, especially on this day, it is worth considering how to save water? Sometimes it takes really very little for our daily household activities to bring tangible benefits for us and the surrounding environment.
- Take a quick shower.
By taking a shower, you can use from 6 to over 40 liters of water per minute.
2. Turn off the water while washing.
Brushing your teeth, washing your hands, soaping your body in the shower – during these activities, turn off the water and turn it back on when you are finished.
3. Fix leaks in sanitary appliances.
A leaking toilet cistern or a faulty gasket can cause very high water consumption, thus affecting household costs.
4. Fill the washing machine and dishwasher before running.
By running a full washing machine and dishwasher, you reduce the frequency of appliance use. Also, select the ECO program to save water and energy.
5. Reuse water.
Avoid washing fruit and vegetables under running water. You will save not only water but also time. Wash fruit and vegetables in a bowl, and use the remaining water for example to water flowers.
6. Install tap attachments.
A special tap attachment, an aerator, reduces the water flow, which in practice means that we use less water while performing the same activities using water at the same time.
7. Collect rainwater.
And use it to water the garden. In this way, you can utilize several thousand liters of water per year that do not need to be drawn from the tap.
8. Teach children to respect water.
Educate children from an early age and implement good practices related to the rational use of the asset that water is.
Remember! Saving water is a good habit for life.
As part of the celebration of “World Water Day”, the limited liability company “Wodociągi Słupsk” will host an industry conference organized on March 23-25 by the Pomeranian Waterworks Forum. During the conference, issues regarding, among others, wastewater, water, and energy management, as well as business and legal aspects, will be discussed. The meeting participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the facilities and experience of the Słupsk waterworks and exchange industry knowledge.
